The Apple Annie Arts & Crafts Show, held annually at St. Ann since 1981, continues to highlight skilled artisans and handmade creations that visitors eagerly anticipate year after year. Organized by the St. Ann’s Council of Catholic Women (SACCW), this event raises funds for local charities that provide assistance to women, children, and individuals without stable housing.
Artisans and Handmade Items
Each of the over 100 artisans chosen for the show bring handmade works defined by artful skill and personal expression. Applicants must submit images of their handcrafted offerings, reflecting specialties such as holiday décor, jewelry, glasswork, wood items, pottery, paintings, soaps, candles, fabric and wearable pieces, plus an assortment of gift-worthy goods. The event’s positive reputation owes much to these skillful contributors and the roughly 300 volunteers who maintain the welcoming environment.
Special Events and Features
The Private Preview Night honors volunteers and special guests. Attendance at this exclusive event exceeds 500 individuals who receive early access to the artisans’ offerings before the show opens to the public. It is a festive evening that many consider a welcomed kickoff to the December event.
In the Blue Light area, artisans provide at least one donated piece worth $35 or more, displayed for visitors to preview. Frequent raffle draws keep excitement high. The show also includes a bustling bake sale that benefits St. Ann Preschool, a café with snacks and drinks, and a raffle featuring artisan-donated items drawn every 15 minutes. Toward the close of the show, a handmade heirloom quilt is awarded. The event’s parking options include St. Ann’s campus and a satellite lot at The Episcopal Church of St. Peter and St. Paul, with free shuttle service provided.
